Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator
We are seeking a self-motivated Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our team. This person works closely together with our System Operations and IT teams to ensure availability, reliability and performance of our PostgreSQL databases.
Responsibilities:
An Experienced PostgreSQL DBA willing to work in a 24-7 environment and on-call as needed.
This position will be working with our SysOps and IT department and will report directly to the CIO.
This position will primarily work with developers and unix administrators, but also participate on cross functional teams to achieve desired results.
The position is a hands-on position responsible for configuring, integrating, and maintaining all the companies Development, Staging and Production PostgreSQL databases.
This position will be responsible for all backup, recovery, and upgrading of all of the companies PostgreSQL databases.
The position also includes monitoring databases to optimize database performance and diagnosing any issues.
The DBA will also help develop, implement, maintain policies and procedures and document database architecture to ensure the security and integrity of the databases. They will implement data models, database designs, data access, table maintenance and code changes together with our development team. The DBA will work towards excellence and actively participate in the continual improvement of the department and company.
Required Skills and
Experience:
3-6 years of administering large PostgreSQL databases
Must have the ability to do performance tuning / index maintenance to meet and assist the needs of the Development teams using PostgreSQL as it's backend database
Must have experience backing up and restoring PostgreSQL database on a regular basis - Designing and Managing PostgreSQL database schemas
Experience in Security access control
Experience with performance testing
Experience with configuration management
Experience with version control
Experience with 24x7 zero downtime database management
Experience with high-available web applications
Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes
Ability to communicate effectively to different levels of technical and non-technical audiences - Implement Database Change Controls
Base Wage/Salary:
$80K - 120K per year (DOE)
