The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for the direct supervision, technical and personal development, and deliverable oversight of a team of Electrical Engineers and Associate Electrical Engineers of various skill levels in ensuring a highly efficient flow of heavy volumes of residential PV electrical reviews. This position requires an ability to think critically, collaborate with individuals and teams, and deliver high-quality results. The EE Manager is expected to build and maintain a highly efficient and technically competent team and is responsible for the administration of policies, procedures and documentation for the Engineering team. On a daily basis, the EE Manager will be responsible for managing the team, ensuring efficient high-quality job flow, providing stamping oversight, reviewing escalated projects, and collaborating with the greater PE Team. Additional responsibilities include working with a variety of other internal customers including Design, Permitting, Regional Operations, Human Resources, Sales, IT, and other teams. This position requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to work across many departments from sales to installation.
Responsibilities:
Manage a team of Electrical and Associate Electrical Engineers to ensure efficient job flow for high volumes of residential rooftop solar designs Maintain compliance with the company's electrical standards based on a deep understanding of applicable code intent and contractual obligations. Review and analyze the electrical integrity of more complicated jobs that get escalated. Research engineering requirements for PV design and installation for existing and new markets. Stamp content for Sunrun as a licensed engineer. Expand licenses to additional states Sunrun operates in as needed. Advocate for best practices from an industry perspective (internally and externally). Represent Sunrun in various PV industry code committees and national policy initiatives. Work with and educate AHJs and Building Officials to negotiate unique requirements. Provide Electrical Engineering support for PE Team, Site Technicians, Designers, Permit Coordinators, and Installers Review field inspections and provide Electrical Observations Reports when requested Train & mentor for other licensed engineers Define and roll out regional engineering policy to drive a better business
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Master's degree preferred. 5
years of experience in professional electrical design required (w/ 2
years in solar engineering preferred). Hold a Professional Engineering license in multiple states Sunrun operates in Excellent knowledge of NEC, state level building codes, and PV permitting requirements Deep understanding of code intentions and permitting initiatives applicable to PV industry Experience leading (in responsible charge of) large engineering projects that require collaboration of multiple licensed engineers. (2
years of management experience a huge plus) Experienced understanding of business needs for pragmatic and efficient operations Proven leader with ability to effectively communicate, build relationships, train and development Excellent organizational and time management skills Proficient coaching, mentoring and conflict resolution skills Demonstrated leadership experience in a team environment Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Ability to prioritize, execute and follow up on initiatives Critical thinking and ability to solve problems Proven record of good judgment and analytical skills High attention to detail Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent computing skills Strong desire to create a Planet Run by the Sun!
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Engineering Management, Electrical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
