Job Description:
Supervises Dining Facility Service activities of dining facility attendants (DFA) to provide exceptional customer service. Hires and schedules DFAs to maintain adequate staffing levels. Provides supervision and leadership support in dining services operations, responsibilities may include dining room, dish-room and serving line oversight. Ensure prompt courteous service for patrons and guests following NRDCI and military standards. Coordinate the activities and work assignments of the DFAs and has a working knowledge to be able to fill in to cover all performance areas as needed.
Portray a professional image in dress and mannerisms and to ensure the same for DFAs. Addresses and follows up on the concerns of the military and handles complaints. Oversees and enforces all dining facility services policies and procedures, and makes recommendations for procedural changes. Maintain records of employee labor hours, meal counts, charges, daily report of activities and daily food safety inspections. Schedule assigned DFAs in accordance to the budget, to meet the needs of the operation and the military, and maintains time keeping records.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this facility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, orienting and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to and demonstrates NRDCI core values, mission, code of conduct, and employee expectations in the performance of all aspects of this position.
2. Inspect dining rooms and serving stations for neatness and cleanliness.
3. Requisitions dining room supplies for tables and serving stations. R
4. Responsible for communicating appropriate information.
5. Conduct training for DFAs to ensure all food service standards are met.
6. Set up Food on serving lines and portion food for individual servings in accordance with instructions
7. Replace Dishes and Wipe Tables-replace glassware, dishes and silverware and refill condiment containers. Wipe and wash tables and countertops
8. Clean Work Area-clean work area, utensils and equipment, remove garbage; mop floors, walls, windows and tables
9. Remove Dirty Dishes-remove dirty dishes, glasses and silverware from serving counters. Mix washing solutions and operate electric dish washing machine and/or wash dishes, glassware, pots and pans and kitchen utensils by hand
10. Make Coffee in Urns-make coffee in urns. Assist in the setup of serving lines
11. Performs a wide variety of manual tasks in the kitchen or dining area of a food activity, which involves light to moderate physical effort and is done according to established procedures
12. Maintain in a sanitary condition equipment and work areas, utensils and tables
13. Follow uniform requirements as prescribed in company rules Shoes shall be of sturdy safety slip resistant with steel/Kevlar reinforced toe construction and shall cover the foot to meet sanitation and safety requirements. Open-toed shoes, sandals, or sneakers will not be worn.
14. Serve food to those in serving line, re-fill cold bars, salad bars, pastry cabinets, condiments, juice dispensers, and set up dining rooms
15. Perform ware-washing, and keep pot and pan areas in order to prior to, during and after meals
16. Follow correct techniques, cleaning schedules and tasks
17. Assist in unloading supplies and moving items to the appropriate storage area.
18. Assist in areas where needed
19. Communicate effectively in a professional manner with customers
20. Maintain a proactive relationship with customers and coworkers.
21. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
22. Participate in all required trainings
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position the candidate must have recent, in-depth working experience in a government or commercial galley, kitchen and dining room facilities with equipment and operations equivalent to that involved in the performance of this contract. At least o year documented experience leading food service personnel in a military or commercial galley and kitchen.
The DFAC Shift Leader shall be able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English, and shall be able to speak with every contractor employee and all Government personnel.
The DFAC Shift Leader has the same operational duties as a regular DFA, but is also responsible for receiving and carrying out instructions and directions for the work crew issued by the Director of Operation, Military DFAC Manager or Assistant DFAC Manager.
This position's primary duties are as a food service attendant, and classified as non-exempt for pay purposes, i.e., the employee is classified as a service employee and is covered by the Service Contract Act.
Must be able after training to serve customers at an efficient pace while providing friendly customer service. Must be able to complete food handler training and obtain certification.
